![]() Two of these, ] and ] are two of my favorites, as they can be both wincons and card advantage depending on what we need at the time. ], ], ], ] and ] all can make our scarecrows into scary beaters. We also are playing some anthems that can assist our weakest scarecrows and turn them into bigger threats. It’s one of the few tribal payoffs to scarecrows other than Reaper King itself, and I’m extremely pleased to see it be available to budget players. Possibly my favorite is the newly-reprinted ], which can reuse scarecrows on the battlefield as well as save our stronger artifact creatures. ], ], ], and ] can all bring back scarecrows and other artifact pieces from the graveyard. ], ], and ] can all make copies of our scarecrows. We’re playing a few cards that allow us to sacrifice, copy, and bring back scarecrows. ![]() The other option is accept how bad scarecrows are, and find ways to play three or of them a turn to make the most of our fantastic commander. ![]() ![]() One option is to cheat and play a bunch of changelings, but unfortunately most of the budget ones are even worse than our scarecrows. That’s why I see two routes to building a good Reaper King deck. Unfortunately, what really holds back Reaper King is the fact that scarecrows almost all suck. I know tribes that would kill to have a commander this good. Its hybrid mana costs let you avoid color screw, it anthems all your scarecrows, and most importantly, you can destroy any permanent any time a scarecrow enters the battlefield. In this case, scarecrows have an excellent commander in Reaper King. Most of the time, a tribe will have decent support from a set, but with no good commander to hold all the pieces together. In terms of EDH tribes, scarecrows are in an unfortunate spot. So instead, I decided to choose a tribe a friend has been trying to make work for a year now. Then I considered building a zombie tribal deck and calling it “The Walking Dead”, but couldn’t get it under $50 in time. I was working on a new deck in my Ambition’s Cost series and a new deck for Commander Legends, but neither of these really captured the spooky spirit I was aiming for. Happy Halloween /r/BudgetBrews! I went back and forth on what deck I should build for this Halloween. Goal: Play ramp and protection, cast Reaper King, blow up a few permanents, win with a big anthem effect or by grinding out your opponent’s resources. Post questions like "What deck should I play" or "Sell me on your commander".Make sure all outside links are directly related to budget edh.Flair your deck as either or in the title.Follow appropriate posting guidelines when you submit any deck.Decks Must be under either $50 (Budget) or $25 (Super Budget)įor formatting help please click the formating help tab under the commenting section. My friend and I also decided to make a commander league that had to have decks at or under $25, which got me really interested in brewing budget decks. Those decks might indeed be cheaper than their more competitive counterparts, but they are in no way budget. It comes down to the fact that I was tired of seeing people posting their "budget" decks on other subs or on other forums only to find out they were actually $100, $200, or even $300+. However they likely will be easy to upgrade if you do wish to spend a little extra money. Decks here probably won't be anything close to top tier, as they are only $50 or $25. If we then draw Entomb/Unmarked Grave we can gravetutor for Smoke Shroud or try to naturally discard them (maybe casting them cheaply to thin out a land). The goal of this sub is to provide players with actually budget edh decks that they can use for casual games. However, now that we have more ninjas, I wonder if we can shift the strategy to center more on ninjas? Forget re-ninjutsuing them, let's instead keep them on board with a slew of evasion! ] and - this is sort of out there - ] and ] into ] and ]! If we draw Wonder/Filth first we can probably discard them naturally thanks to our heavy card draw. This has been mitigated by ]-esque effects. This partly due to a lack of ninjas and partly due to the nature of ninjutsu. Yuriko has previously been (sort of) unique in that she is a tribal deck containing a lot of non-tribal cards. With NEO, we have significantly more ninjas to populate our deck lists.
